When precision machining thin-walled or ring-shaped workpieces, overcoming the deformation of the workpiece is the first challenge to be faced, and selecting the right type of soft claw and appropriate chuck pressure is the key.
Under the same chuck pressure in a CNC machining center, the fan-shaped soft claw has a larger contact area than the standard soft claw, which means that the pressure on the workpiece is more uniform. However, the standard soft claw may exhibit the following situation: the actual situation may not be as obvious as in the picture, but in the video at the bottom, you can clearly see that under the same conditions except for different types of soft claws, the degree of deformation of the workpiece can even differ by tens of times; Tianxuan Precision focuses on robot parts processing and customized non-standard parts.
Whether it is precision machining fan-shaped soft claws or standard soft claws, they will need to be repaired due to excessive wear of the soft claws or replacement of processed parts. In the process of repairing, the soft claws that are about to be removed should be marked and numbered first. This is to increase the frequency of use of the soft claws, and more detailed markings will also reduce the possibility of misuse. Next is the selection of claw repairers: usually, the left claw repairer repairs the inner claw, and the right claw repairer repairs the outer claw.
The following issues should be noted during precision machining, whether in the production or repair of soft claws: the T-shaped block should not exceed the Z-diameter of the chuck, the chuck pressure during claw repair should be close to the pressure during CNC machining of the workpiece, the chuck is in the middle of the range of motion, the direction of the clamping force during claw repair should be consistent with the direction of the workpiece clamping force, pay attention to the speed during claw repair, add a relief groove, remove burrs and sharp corners;
When neither of the two claw repairers can meet the conditions, we need to make a special precision machining claw component, such as machining the lower ring to repair the outer claw. When the part that needs to be clamped is relatively long, there may be a situation where the workpiece and the soft claw cannot fully fit, commonly known as the "horn mouth". Specifically, there is a gap between the top of the soft claw and the workpiece.
An effective solution is to CNC machine a taper on the soft claw, measure the size of the gap with a feeler gauge, measure the clamping length, and then calculate the size of the taper.
